Shipping has already begun and, by the end of the year, more than 46,000 units or 15% of the total order will have been delivered. The Air Force first ordered QuikClot® in 2005. The new order represents a significant increase in the number of QuikClot® units it will have in the field. QuikClot® brand hemostatic agent is currently the only advanced blood-clotting agent in use by all branches of the U.S. Military. In addition to the U.N., F.B.I., and other security agencies, as well as first responders around the nation, QuikClot® is in use in 36 countries worldwide. “Z-Medica is very proud that QuikClot® has become an integral part of the U.S. Air Force’s lifesaving and safety equipment,” said Z-Medica CEO Raymond J. It was developed in cooperation with the United States Navy and United States Marines Corps Warfighting Laboratory, the United States Marine Corps Systems Command and university hospitals. The product was tested by the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences (USUHS) and the Naval Medical Research Center (NMRC). QuikClot® has already been credited with saving more than 150 lives in Iraq and Afghanistan.
